Can I import email or SMS subscribers?

Email and SMS contacts cannot be imported as browser push subscribers. Web push is a different browser permission channel.

Why imports do not work

A web push subscriber is created only after a shopper allows notifications in their browser. The browser generates a push subscription for that specific browser and device.

An email address or phone number does not include:

• Browser push endpoint.
• Browser push encryption keys.
• Notification permission state.
• The device/browser subscription identity.

Because of this, Pushrr cannot convert email or SMS contacts into push subscribers.

What you can do instead

Invite existing customers to subscribe:

• Send an email announcement with a link to your store.
• Offer a discount or early-access reason to subscribe.
• Add storefront messaging that explains the benefit.
• Use campaigns in other channels to promote web push opt-in.

What Pushrr stores after opt-in

After a shopper allows notifications, Pushrr stores the browser push subscription and status for the website. Pushrr does not need an email address or phone number to send browser push notifications.
